The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (popularly known as IIT-JEE or just JEE) is an annual college entrance examination in India. A total of nine colleges use JEE as a sole criterion for admission to their undergraduate programs. The nine colleges include the seven Indian Institutes of Technology, IT-BHU Varanasi, and ISM Dhanbad. It is the toughest engineering entrance exam in the world with a success rate of around 1 in 83. Candidates who successfully pass the IIT-JEE can apply for admission to the BTech, Dual Degree (Integrated Bachelor of Technology and Masters of Technology) and Integrated MSc (Master of Sciences) courses in the various institutes. Achieving entrance into an IIT is often considered the pinnacle of achievement for a student of the sciences, as IITs attract most of the brightest students of the nation.
The pattern is totally different from what is being taught in the schools of India. For tackling JEE, students must be properly trained for the exams. There are hundreds of coaching institutes mushrooming everywhere in India. What is necessary is that people should do adequate research before selecting a coaching institute for himself. It also becomes the moral responsibility of parents to do adequate research before selecting any coaching institute for their kid.
Proper research and paper work is necessary for the selecting best institute. There are certain points which should be very well researched before selecting the institute. Some of the points are outlined below.
1. Check the track records of the institute: You must check how the students of any institute fared well in previous entrance examinations. Ask for the performance report of their students in the previous entrance examinations. If the institute does not have a good track record in the entrance examination, you should avoid that coaching institute.
2. Don't forget to ask for telephone numbers of few students for testimonials. It is always recommended to contact few students personally and ask about the institute. Ask about the faculty members of the institute and ask about their teaching methodologies.
3. Check whether they provide library facilities for their students or not. While library facilities is not that important it is always good if available.
