Hi! I'm Emily. My husband, Serge, and I have been married for five years. We have 2 great kids - ages 4 and 1. And here's why I created this blog. Serge and I are a young couple in a similar situation to millions of Americans. We're deeply in debt. While we haven't incurred any new debt in quite a while, the poor (and somewhat uninformed) decisions we've made in the past are continuing to haunt us. We have two small kids, one full-time income, a small home, very little retirement, very little savings and the bills keep rolling in.
Does this sound like you or your family? If you're also a stay-at-home parent, there might be an added level of stress if you're considering the option of returning to work. If your household is operating on two incomes (or you're a single parent), you might not feel like there is much more you can do. Stick around. I've got some ideas for you!
Serge and I worked together to make it possible for me to stay home just before our second child was born. It wasn't easy. We certainly aren't living on a six-figure income. We have committed to raising our family according to God's word and he is definitely our partner - make that our leader - in this. What I hope for this blog is that I can document our journey through getting out of debt, while sharing with you the things we've learned already and the ideas we'll learn along the way.
I'll probably put some fun kids things on here, too. After all, they are a huge motivator for living a better life!
