I know I haven't blogged in forever. And I'm not going to tonight. I'm too tired to write a decent comprehensive update on what's been going on. For now I'll just catch you up a bit.
I went to Jamaica, the Caymen Islands, and Mexico on a cruise and liked it a lot. If you're a Facebook friend of mine, you can look at my photo albums to see what's new. I drove up to Provo from Texas with my brother and sister in her truck. Long trip. I moved into a new apartment, set up shop (moving was a beast, I have so much stuff), I had a job interview that I'll write about if I get the job, and school started.
This will be my last semester: Organizational Behavior, Business Management Marketing, Sociology 113, and Psychology of Personality. It ends up being about a class a day. Not too bad. My roommates are way rad guys, uh.. What else is there to say?
I've been watching a lot of the DNC and RNC conventions. Sarah Palin spoke yesterday at the RNC convention and it was a great speech.
On the investing front, I'm considering shaking things up. Until now all those stocks I've been "buying" and "selling" has been in a mock portfolio- meaning like fantasy football fake. But I wanted to gain some experience. Well, now I just got a little bit more money to invest with in my Roth IRA, so what I'm thinking I'm going to do is? keep my shares of SWGEX, sell half of my SWPIX to diversify a bit more by using that money to buy BGRFX (a Baron's small growth fund), and I'll end up with some money left over-- that I want to invest myself! That's right. Buying my own stocks for real. I'm considering opening a Scottrade Roth IRA account and rolling over the money for stocks and then going to town myself. It's a tough decision, but I think I want to do it. Since it's my retirement money, I will play it pretty safe with this money. Someday when I can save some of my own, I can be a little more? 'strategic' in my buys, but for now I dunno. I guess I should look up what stocks to buy.. Right now it's just cash. We'll see. There's a Scottrade just down the road from me. Most convenient.
