This is not a political blog. Still politics and administration policies matter to the economy and business. The forthcoming Presidential elections are critical if the US economy and industry is to survive and prosper.
I have previously written about my feelings for Senator Obama’s economic policy leanings and how his tax cut proposals have a potential to destroy the US economy. Now that the conventions are over and the nominations are official, I would like to take this opportunity to throw my support behind the McCain/Palin ticket
(Mr Buffett, while I admire your investing prowess, I respectfully beg to differ with you on your political views. You are WRONG to support Obama)
I am not inherently republican or democrat. I would like to think I choose on the merits of the positions. I would readily agree that the last 8 years under the current administration were wasted. Worse, many mistakes were made and sadly the current administration will leave the country worse than it found it. What I want in the next POTUS is a leader with common sense and ethics and passion and drive and credentials. He doesn’t need to be an expert in all facets of the job, but he needs to understand where he is weak and finds the right support to complement him in those areas. He doesn’t need to have a fan base but he needs to be a person who commands respect and is a statesman. I want someone with character, but not with a persona that has been meticulously cultivated with the help of hundreds of advisors, but a character that shows with the deeds and how this person has handled different situations.
Above all I want someone who understands that the country becomes great because its people do great things, and restraining business and industry with additional taxation and bureaucracy and populism is the wrong path to take.
McCain/Palin, you have my vote!
