The Screen Room at Ann Siang Road, in addition to just catching movies, has also a whiskey bar, a rooftop bar and a restaurant, which is one gem under the radar. I would not have known if not for the food tasting invitation to try the restaurant's menu, created by the executive Chef Wayne Nish, who has amassed a string of accolades in USA.

Cranberries
When I think about holiday food, I can't picture a meal that doesn't have something containing cranberries -- even if it's just cranberry sauce from a can. There MUST be cranberries. That said, here are my three personal favorite cranberry recipes. Don't be afraid to make them all; you won't be disappointed.
Do you have a favorite cranberry recipe? Let's hear it in the comments -- I love to try new recipes.

In 2003 I discovered a profession that I thought was perfect for my passions and talents, TV chef. I have spent the past half decade trying to reach this lofty, if bizarre, goal. It has been a tough road as, like I have said before, there are no [...]

Thanksgiving is approaching at the speed of light! It?s just around the corner, and nary a plan has been laid for the upcoming holiday. Fortunately, my daughter Abigail has crafts on the brain, and as soon as she saw this edible craft in a book or a magazine, she [...]

This is going to be a really short blog post. The reason being that a book I ordered a week ago just arrived and I NEED to finish reading it tonight.
My husband found this book “Twelve Hours Sleep by Twelve Weeks Old” (by Suzy Giordano, Lisa Abidin) recommended by Cory Doctorow on Boing Boing. My [...]

I think I have mentioned before that, where restaurant criticism is concerned, things are done a bit differently in London. This review by A. A. Gill is typical, and typically hilarious. A sample:
Bel Canto is stuck in the basement of an office block, up an alley, off a dead end. It would be easier to find the meaning of life. You’re shown into a small lift, wallpapered with a photograph of La Fenice, which gives you the oddly uncomfortable f

Justin LOVES noodles with peanut sauce. We usually make this recipe, sometimes with sauteed tofu thrown in there. Last night I tried a version of the dish from my Gourmet cookbook, and we loved it.
It seemed so much easier, just tossing all the ingredients in the blender and pouring over the noodles. Dinner was ready in [...]

Earlier this year I got myself a dwarf Meyer lemon tree. I have wanted one for a few years. It was only 2 feet tall, but already covered in green baby lemons. Now, 6 months later, I have about 8 juicy yellow Meyer lemons to cook with.
It looked beautiful [...]

Vacuum sealers extend the storage life of food by removing the air and sealing the food for [...]

Frank, Paul and June teamed up to make a side dish called Carrot, Orange and Poppy Seed Bake. This recipe requires lots of cutting. While Joan and Joyce teamed up to make the Cranberry Fruit Compote, Joyce decided to help this team to do some cutting as her recipe is fairly simple and Joan can watch over it by herself.

Rachel and Brandon met us for dinner at La Sirene on Sunday night. The little BYOB Bistro didn't look all that appealing and the bench seats against the wall were uncomfortable. The menu did appeal to me, seeing some classics with some less common dishes mixed in, but they were out of the Hanger Steak and the Cassoulet, two of their most popular items.

Mmmmm! Right now the whole dang house is filled with the warm smell of baked bananas! Why is that? Well,I'll tell ya... it's because Sweet Lo (my better half) is whipping up a batch of her mini banana muffins. These little doo-dads are a great item to have for a breakfast or brunch menu.
NOTE: For the most flavorful muffins, make sure your bananas are as ripe as possible! You

So, while I wasn’t writing posts for the past month, there were lots of other things I wasn’t doing.
I wasn’t cooking a lot at home.
I wasn’t eating a lot at home.
I wasn’t cleaning up a lot at home.
I wasn’t taking a lot of photographs.
I wasn’t sleeping very much.
There were also a lot of other things [...]

Last week I discovered that whatever I write while taking painkillers makes very little sense. I tried writing and rewriting posts while recovering from some medical stuff, only to find that Vicodin makes me stupid, dizzy and sleepy. Anyway, all is well with me again — sorry about the unintended break! It’s time to get [...]
