French toast is my favorite! Have you ever had overnight baked french toast? It?s not like your traditional fried french toast, it?s more like a custard bread pudding-like french toast. The insides will be soft and delicious, especially with this cream cheese filling. I have posted other recipes before, but [...]

There has been a recent trend in Midwest restaurants over the past few years, which, for lack of a better term, can be called hybrid restaurants. These restaurants combine the affordability and pace of fast food with the quality of a nice sit-down restaurant.
These hybrid restaurants come [...]

Garganeli is a tube noodle which is rolled up from a square piece of pasta. Jane also brought along one gadget to make Garganeli. We love to learn how to use all these gadgets which we are not familiar with.

This is a dish that came together quite by chance - an excess of roasted vegetables and a need to do something with them.

I spent Wednesday at Mom's house helping her prepare for the crowd that was to be there on Thursday but Thanksgiving was spent with my husband and some friends of ours at their house. They invited a couple in their 70s from their church, a single man in his 50s or so from their church, and us. We made an interesting little group.

Beer aficionados tend to go for extremes: the highest-rated and most sought-after beers listed on sites like BeerAdvocate and RateBeer are often extremely high in alcohol, extremely bitter, extremely sour ? or some combination of all three.
But your average beer drinker isn’t into extremes. Most people who want a beer ? here in Prague and [...]

The White Horse in Parson's Green has long been famous as THE Mecca for the luvvies of the beer world, if that's not too bizarre a concept (the idea of there being luvvies of the beer world, rather than them having a Mecca).

Besides making angel hair and fettuccine, Jane also demonstrated to us how to make various filled pasta using the freshly made pasta. To make pasta with filing, begin cutting the pasta sheet while still moist once the pasta sheet had been rolled out to the thinnest stage.

I am lodged in the hills of western Maine, not more than a few miles from the New Hampshire border. We have just enough elevation to be above the snow line, and I can see white pines and the ghostly white bark of denuded birch trees out the frosted window. (A palatte of many whites, some of them green.) The cabin is one of Sally's brother's, brand new, smelling of the pine beams that support it. Last night, a different brother arrived from Maryland bearing beers from across the east. I alert you to two.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. I hope everyone, no matter where they live, will take a few moments to consider all they have to be thankful for. There's plenty to complain about in today's world, but for today, let's focus on the positive.

Hey All:
I know this is like shameless self-promotion … guilty as charged! We are hoping to get a little bit of visibility on the Vancouver blogosphere. All these while Suanne and I had focused on networking with local food bloggers but we thought it would be great to expand our world a little bit more.
