Apologies for the lack of posting around here lately. Himself took two weeks off and we enjoyed some mini-trips and family time. My baby brother got married - sort of - the civil ceremony took place in Dublin last week, but the official church wedding and reception is in Italy in May. Cannot wait.
My wonderful Grandparents celebrated their sixtieth anniversary in Dublin on Monday past and it was a fabulous event. I had the opportunity to see family I hadn’t seen since leaving Ireland in 1989 and my Grandad’s speech brought tears to my eyes. All in all, a lovely couple of weeks. He’s back to work today and home again in another two weeks when my sister-in-law and father-in-law will be visiting from the US.
Anyway, I am working on some new recipes and reviews. In the meantime, here are some links that I have enjoyed in the last few weeks of limited internet connectivity!
How to Write a Recipe Like a Professional - Some of this is going to be familiar and even come naturally, especially to the cookbook addicts among us, but it’s interesting to read regardless.
A food blogger has some PR trouble with America’s Test Kitchen et al - I for one, will also be boycotting them and their products, the magazines which rarely impress, although himself loves them!
The Dubliner Magazine highlights some of the best restaurant finds in Dublin. Not sure I agree 100%, but lots of food for though. *SNORT* Hat tip to Alexia
A list of the Top 20 Healthiest Foods under $1 - some interesting thoughts here. I wish I could get eggs for under a dollar. Americans don’t know how good they have it methinks!
I’m not a big fan of fast food to begin with but I did get a kick out of this site which shows the picture advertised, versus what you actually get. Would think you could apply similar to ready meals!
UKTV Food highlight a great list of frugal foods complete with some mouth-watering recipes.
Finally, a new Irish food blog for your perusal, the wonderfully designed Messy Chef.
I’ll be making the rounds on all the blogs, but probably won’t have time to comment on everything. Google reader has well over 3000 items to get through! Eek!
