My flawed skin
1. The acne on my face has cleared up a lot since the beginning of this year. For several months, I applied topical gels twice a day. And then I started taking antibiotics twice a day also. I've been doing this for about 5 months and the result is pretty drastic; my face is a lot more clear.
2. The "cyst" on my lip turns out to be a benign lesion: an oil gland. It will keep on re-growing unless surgically removed. Now it doesn't seem to grow any bigger (fingers crossed) and is less obvious in terms of color and size than before.
3. I realized that a lot of my skin problems (acne, blackheads, the lesion) are caused by oil glands, or sebum. My skin tends to accumulate oil very easily. This oil plugs the pores on my face, allows dust and bacteria to be built up, and unwanted substances like pimples and blackheads naturally pop out.
Remember the exciting Olympics? I don't think I didn't see many (if any) athletes with flawed skin. This is because they have a healthy metabolism and their bodies are good at getting rid of unwanted substances that may be harmful to the body.
4. Here are some things to keep in mind if you want healthy skin:
- Be patient and persistent. Your skin will not improve overnight. It takes weeks to start seeing gradual changes, and months to see drastic results. Do honestly keep doing everything as told by your dermatologist everyday.
- Drink lots of water; 8 x 8 fl. oz., or 2 liters, is probably enough for the average person.
- Depending on how much you eat, you should poop at least once or twice everyday. Avoid using laxatives like the plague.
- Exercise! Do a little walking, sweat a little everyday. While you're at it, learn to breathe properly.
Daily Walk in the Evening
Starting from last Sunday, I started walking for 10~20 minutes after dinner in the evening, at around 8pm. My flawed lip actually kind of motivates me to keep up the walk. Anyway, after a hot day I think it's nice to breathe the fresh, cool air outside. Walking is boring though, I'll try to bring some music with me next time.
Walking also lets me think. I am writing this after walking.
There are many benefits to taking brisk walks after dinner everyday. Do some google search to see for yourself. It may help your metabolism! I'll update if I see results.
Neck Exercise
Here's a nifty exercise to reduce some fat on your face, specifically around your neck. I will update on this next time. You'll see results after doing it properly everyday for at least two weeks. People around me have told me so.
Sweet Dessert
I made some Creme Brulee earlier this week. It's SO delic! Though I'd recommend 1/2~1 cup less sugar.
