A poem
by Chris Hibbard
(Author's Note: I wrote this about a co-worker. Only 20 years old, he is the most stressed-out, high-strung, over achieving perfectionist I?ve ever met. Not surprising, he was a management student.)
Speed
Grow up seed boy, go towards the sun
You want to be a plant right? Strive to be the one
There are dangers that come with age
So enjoy being young
Your leaves will wilt, the trimmer will come
You can choose to be wise, or live to have fun
Crack your shell egg boy, come outside and play
You want to be a hawk right, and hunt for mice one day?
Take the world in your talons
And live a bird of prey
Your feathers will molt, your screech will say
You see black and white, while I see shades of grey
Keep on swimming sperm boy, first one out of the gate
You want to be a man right, wouldn?t that be great?
The womb is the most perfect place you can be
All the warmth, no hate
You?ll lose your tail, your belly will inflate
One day you?ll be a daddy son, once you start to date
Slow it down speed boy, there?s no need to run
Life can last forever, you?re not even twenty-one
There are dangers that come with age
So enjoy being dumb
Your memory will fade, you won?t remember being young
You can choose to live long, or live to have fun
