After 50+ years of living, there are a few things I've observed and learned along the way:
Savor your children's childhood. They grow up fast--and have children of their own--in what seems like a blink of an eye.
Old age wisdom. After trial and error, I have found the 'don't ask, don't tell' philosophy is usually best. Unsolicited advice usually falls on deaf ears. note: this is especially important when observing your children raising their children. Pretend you're as dumb as dirt.
Shower the people you love with love. Today, not tomorrow. You may not have tomorrow. Give them your love, your time, your kindness in abundant, generous portions right now.
Old does not mean dead. We've got road wear but we still feel, think & love--just like everyone else. One day, you too will be old. You'll know what I mean.
Wrinkles and age spots. Go with the territory. Why waste money on Botox or anti-aging formulas fighting them? Use a good moisturizer and forget about it.
Gray hair. Bring it on. I've better things to do than color my hair and attend to my roots. And I earned every one of them.
Food, smoking and drinking. All things in moderation. Quality of life. Enjoy!
Grandchildren. God's gift. They keep you young at heart.
Having my say. Been there, done that. But life isn't over until it's over. I'm going to soak up the sun and rock on!
