-Varmt välkommen hit-
Weather Outlook: Highs - 30 - 40’s. Lows - 20 - 30’s. Cold with winds to be strong today. Up to over 40 mph now. There is snow east of us but dry here. As usual.
Met with a niece and nephew and our nephew’s uncle who is not a blood relative but we consider ourselves related. Also included was an old friend who is a neighbour. We met for supper and we had great conversations and got to talking about things we did in the past. Willie was even in tears once or twice with laughter!
There was one bad moment last nite though. The subject of Obama came up. And several of them made some very racist, stereotypical remarks. How very sad. I am used to Willie’s best friends being racists but this group I have never heard talk like this. One would think in the 21st century people would not be so ignorant and uncivilised. Hard to imagine people I love feeling as such. It made me quite sad.
Met with John, Sally, Paul, and Jordy for lunch. Paul has daily treatments in Hutchinson so I rarely get to see them. Nice to all be together. And I never see Jordy who is away at college.
Home now and ready for a nap. My blood sugar was very very bad during the nite. I got little sleep. But at least I woke up. If I had not, I could have been in big trouble.
Today is the first sunday in Advent. In my church is a candleholder shaped in a circle. Around the outside are 4 candles, one lit each sunday in Advent. In the center is a candle that is lit Christmas Day. All our candles are the same colour. I did find this explanation of the candles on a Presbysterian minister’s blogg. Their candles were all a dark pink except for one light pink one.
The Prophecy Candle is the first candle lit. It reminds us of the Old Testament prophets who foretold Christ’s birth. The Bethlehem Candle, the second candle lit, is symbolic of the Christ Child’s cradle. The Shepherd’s Candle is the third candle which we light on the third Sunday in Advent. This pink candle typifies the act of sharing Christ. Pink symbolizes the Advent Rose, a time to pause in this season to Rejoice in the Lord.
