So apparently there's this movie, it's a rock opera written by two guys named Darren Smith and Terrence Zdunich.
It was directed by Darren Lynn Bousman who directed most of the SAW movies. Check out the website at www.repo-opera.com and visit the repo board at repo-opera.com/board
I remember seeing a preliminary trailer for it on perezhilton.com and I was intrigued.
"An epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Panic erupts and scientists feverishly make plans for a massive organ harvest. Out of the tragedy, GeneCo, a multi-billion dollar biotech company, emerges. GeneCo provides organ transplantation for a profit. In addition to financing options, GeneCo reserves the right to implement default remedies, including repossession. For those who can't keep up with their organ payments, collection is the responsibility of "organ repo men", skilled assassins contracted by GeneCo, ordered to recover GeneCo's property by any means necessary.
At the heart of the story is Shilo Wallace (Alexa Vega), a 17 year-old girl with a rare blood disease. She has been kept locked up and protected in her house, where she is guarded from the outside world by her father, Nathan Wallace (Anthony Head). While Shilo struggles with her wish to leave the house and experience the outside world, Nathan struggles with his job as the repo man, and more specifically, his next target, a woman named Blind Mag (Sarah Brightman). Blind Mag was a friend of Nathan's now-deceased wife, and is Shilo's godmother.
The Largo family, consisting of GeneCo president Rotti (Paul Sorvino), his daughter Amber (Paris Hilton), and his two sons Luigi and Pavi (Bill Moseley and Nivek Ogre, respectively), have their own plans. Rotti is dying, and the three siblings bicker and fight about who is to take the role as head of GeneCo.
The stories intertwine and merge at the GeneCo opera."
I know, I know, it sounds like a bloody gruesome movie but it's dark in a good way. I know those of you who hate Paris Hilton will automatically think this movie is going to suck but I did a LOT of research on this film before I would write about it.
The things I've seen with her in it aren't bad at all. She plays her role (the spoiled, sex addicted, drug addicted, plastic surgery addicted, rich girl) very well and convincingly.
The other cast of characters is vast and they all have their roles down to a science. Bill Moseley from House of A Thousand Corpses and other horror movies (those of you who know horror, know who he is) and Paul Sorvino who plays Rotti Largo, owner of Gene Co are just two of the amazing and eclectic cast featured in this movie.
Aside from the movie, the graphics are stunning and intriguing. The way that Darren Lynn Bousman directed this movie just makes it even more amazing.
The clothes, makeup, and hair in the movie is also something to watch it for. The costumes are great, especially Amber's tight S&M pieces.
It was suppossed to be released in April but it was pushed back to November 7th in very limited release, go to the website, join the Repo! Army and help this movie get a wide release.
Don't discount it because it's a musical. It already has a cult following like Rocky Horror Picture Show and Moulin Rouge.
