Firstly, I’d like to report that the Vaseline Clinical Therapy lotion I’ve been using for the past three days is working wonderfully. The skin on my arms has improved vastly, and did so after the first use of the product. The skin on my ankles is looking much better as well, but there’s still a long way to go. The box the lotion came in said it can cure severe dry skin in 5 days, but there was no mention of eczema treatment, so I’ll let you know how it’s looking by day five. Overall, though, this product is a clear winner… I’d recommend it to my friends, with or without eczema.
Now for a complaint. Don’t you hate it when people say, “what’s wrong with your skin”? I hate that. I almost never tell them it’s eczema, as many people don’t know what that means, and I guess I’m scared people will think I’m contagious or dirty or something equally as despicable. I try to keep the worst parts of the rash covered while I’m in public, but you can’t much hide your hands, and I’ve definitely gotten some comments. I usually tell people it’s an allergic reaction to my soap/pet dander/dry air, which is 100% truth, and it usually shuts down any follow-up questions. I get very self-conscious when I notice people looking at my skin, even if I know it’s only curiosity and concern for my health that gets them to ask about it. With so many people across the world affected by eczema, why is it so hard to talk about? How do other people handle this situation?
