Lips are one of my favourite things to make up. I almost never use just one product, it’s usually three or four - whether that’s layering different colours of lipstick on top of each other, creating a perfect red lip with defined liner and gold gloss, or one of my favourite ways to give a perfect pout, which I’m going to share with you today. First of all let’s look at the products. For this look you’ll need a lipliner, a shimmery powder highlighter, a blush brush and a lipgloss - I’m using (all MAC Products): Gingerroot Cremestick Liner, Mineralize Skinfinish powder duo (the shimmery side), the #168 brush and Live & Dye Lipglass.

You can use different colours or different brands of these products of course, it’s just the technique I’m really focusing on. It works really well with most pinks, peaches or nudes, you can even experiment with brighter colours, which usually look fantastic too. Anyway, lets get started…
First of all on clean lips, line and fill your lips in with your lipliner. This will define the shape of your lips, give the powder we are about to use something to stick to, give you a better depth of colour and basically keep it all on for longer. I love lip pencils, they make such a difference, so if you don’t use one, please start!
Next I get my blush brush and rub it in a powder highlighter - these products should generally be a bit glittery or shimmery and work best for this purpose if they have a slight gold undertone - try MAC’s Belightful, it’s one of my favourites. Now with the brush gently buff the product over the fullest part of your lips and the surrounding area. You want this product to also end up on the ridges either side of the philthrum to accentuate your cupid’s bow.
It may all look a little strange at this point, but it will all come together when you apply your lipgloss. Slick on the gloss and blend it in well to the powder and liner so that all the layers fuse together. Now it should be looking good! Notice how the light catches your cupid’s bow and that your lips look full and pouty. So give these few easy steps a go - it’s the same technique makeup artists use on celebrities like Jessica Alba and Hilary Duff to get that gorgeous and glossy look that everyone wants and now you can have it too!
