So you've read the list about which brands do and don't test on animals, but the thought of changing your brands to something you haven't tried before or just feel aprehensive for whatever reason makes it feel all too annoying and let's face it, time consuming!
Now, to help you along, I have complied products that I use, that don't test on animals and that work great AND you can purchase at Coles, Woolies, IGA or where ever you do you routine shopping.
When you think of bathroom products one of the first things that come into mind is toilet paper. Most companies don't test toilet paper on animals because really, what's the need? However, the most popular brands of toilet paper Wondersoft and Kleenex do test on animals. So you wont go wrong if you buy Quilton, Purex, Softly, Sorbent - if you want to be extra good you can buy Merino, Safe or Ecosoft, they not only don't test on animals, but they are safe for the environment and they're just as soft and comfortable as the non eco brands.
Next is toothpaste and tooth brushes. Colgate, Colgate, Colgate...they test! Hey, even your dentist may have reccommended Colgate, so it's got to be okay... well, no, not really. "Are your Macleans showing?" now that's a safe product to get behind. They cater for all, even the sensitive with Sensodyne. Macleans also do a mouthwash without alcohol and also floss.
For the face, us women especially, need our daily moisture and make up removal - maybe even a cleanse and tone. If you prefer to not spend too much on these products and pick them up in your routine shop, I have found the best brands to be Nivea, St Ives and Clearasil. For young skin, keeping blemishes off your face can be hard enough, finding what works can take you all over the place, covering many brands - luckily for you Clearasil don't test on animals and are a safe option - cleansers, toners, moisture, make up removal the whole lot. For post teen skin, Nivea is great. Especially when it comes to moisture. This brand also covers make up removal, cleaners, toners etc. Lastly, St Ives do a great exfoliator.
When it comes to shower time, we need a quality soft, hopefully full of moisture, a good shampoo and conditioner and probably a razor. It's a shame that the biggest brands, and the most advertised brands are also the worst culprits - Dove, Pantene, Lux, Sunsilk, Herbal Essences, Head & Shoulders, Palmolive, Pert.
Soap: Nivea, hands down fantastic. The Nivea Creme Soft is awesome.
Shampoo + Conditioner: VO5 has a great range of products for the hair. As do Schwarzkopf.
Razor: Schick is excellent. I use Schick Quattro.
MY TOP PICKS:
Toilet paper: Quilton
Dental: Macleans
Face: Nivea, Clearasil, St Ives.
Shower: VO5, Schwarzkopf, Nivea, Schick.
