Yesterday, while perusing my grocery store shelves I came across the Luna Bar. They looked good and they were both low calorie and low fat (a good thing to look for in a snack) so i decided to buy one.
Luna bars come in many varieties but i chose the "Toasted Nuts n' Cranberry" flavor. I unwrapped it and was immediately pleased. It actually looked appetizing, (unlike most nutrition bars that look like dog crap). But looks only go so far, i took my first (albeit sceptical) bite and was amazed. A healthy low-calorie, low-fat bar that WAS ACTUALLY TASTY!!! The texture was really really good also, not all chewy and icky like a Clif bar.
It was so good in fact that i walked to the sotre again today i bought myself the "chocolate peppermint stick" variety. Once again it was a very satisfying experience.
Here are the nutrition facts for the Chocolate peppermint stick Luna bar.
Calories: 180
Total fat: 4g
Sat. Fat: 3g
Carbs: 29g
Fiber: 2g
Protein 10g
This luna bar also gave me
25% of my viatamin A
100% of my vitamin C
35% of my calcium
and 35% of my iron for the day
they are also a good source of 13 other vitamins&nutrients!
Luna bars are also Low-Glycemic which means that they take longer for your body to digest and keep you fuller, longer. This means you wont be reaching for the potato chips right after you finish eating your Luna Bar.
Luna Bars are being marketed as "the whole health bar for women" but guys, dont let that scare you away from them! The price for a luna bar in my area is $1.25 and they are located near the other nutrition bars in your grocery store.
so next time your at the store and you want a snack and you start heading for the "fun size" bags of chips STOP turn yourself around, and get a Luna bar. :]
happy eating,
Jacob
