Second week of Max-OT and today was my leg workout. After this week the routine changes a bit but I don't think these changes affect the legs, save for maybe switching the order the exercises are done. I really think my Purple K is working because this week I noticed a big difference in the strength of my legs, I was able to add an extra bit of weight to my barbell squat and my leg press and one of my calf workouts had a considerable amount of strength gain. Anyhow, here is the gist of today's workout.
Barbell squats, 3 Sets, 5 Reps. 170 lbs (UP 10lbs from last week)
Leg Presses, 2 Sets, 5 Reps, 440 lbs (UP 120lbs from last week!!!!!)
Stiff legged Dead-lifts, 2 Sets, 6 Reps 185lbs (UP 25lbs from last week)
Smith / Standing Machine Calf Raises, 2 Sets, 8 Reps 240lbs (UP 20lbs from last week)
45° Leg Press Calf Raises, 3 Sets, 12 Reps 440 lbs (UP 120lbs from last week!!)
(On my Leg Press machine calf raises, I did three sets, one set with my toes out, one set with my toes in and one set with my toes forward. I read that it gives your whole calf a better, more focused workout)
As you can see, I gained some crazy strength in my Leg Presses and my 45° Leg Press calf raises. I am not full of shit, those gains were honest. I even did one extra set of the leg press calf raises and did more reps because I felt that great about the extra strength. It has got to be my Purple K, either that or I am a genetic freak, which I doubt so I'm laying the "blame" on the Creatine. I think I might have to order another bottle of this from Supplements Canada at the end of the month when I get my 10lbs of Whey. If you are some random reading this, GET PURPLE K! IT'S GOOD!!!
Also, today I was able to add 10lbs to my Barbell squat and I was quite pleased with that number. I figure if I can continue to add a good 10lbs or so a week to my Barbell squat, the more I get used to the form and methods of performing the squat, I will be squatting 300 in about 3-4 months barring any injuries. Once I finish Max-OT and get better with my squats, I might even give one of the dreaded Russian Squat routines a try... if I'm brave enough.
