Therapeutic massage has been around for hundreds of years, and can be used to relieve muscle tension, reduce stress, and to improve your overall health. If you are a baby wearing mama, and you use Motrin, you might want to think twice. Their newest ad campaign features a video that mocks and condescends to their target audience.
Here’s the condescending, mocking, anti mom and baby video.
I was so furious when I watched it I could barely speak. You would think a company who’s target audience is mothers, and has millions of dollars to spend on market research, and advertising would do a little bit better job than to insult their target market.

Went shopping-alone- for The Girl’s pajamas the other night.
Know what I saw passing the girls’ section? Training bras that were somewhat (okay, ALOT) padded and had CUTIE in a playful arc across the bra cup spelled out in what looked to be a form of shiny rhinestone jewels. When I say girls, I mean in [...]

On the heels of the July National Institutes of Health report that teen pregnancies rose in the United States for the first time since 1991, a new study from the RAND corporation shows sexual content on television to be strongly associated with teen pregnancy.
Are we surprised? Every parent I know routinely contemplates the over sexualized [...]

Readers of my own blog are well aware of my rabid interest in the US Election, and on this site I have been taking part in a discussion forum that has got tempers flared and patriotism ignited. It’s pretty intense. As an Australian, living in Australia and therefore about as unable to vote in the [...]

Taking prenatal vitamins is an important step for pregnant women to take to protect their health and the health of their babies. These multivitamins are specially formulated to provide additional nutrients to make up for any nutritional deficiencies that may occur in the mother’s diet. The Halloween candy isn’t even stale yet, and Christmas stuff is everywhere. Christmas décor is out at Target. I just saw a holiday commercial on TV. Santa Claus is at my local mall.
Yes, you read correctly. Santa is already at the mall. It’s November-freaking-second.
Something is wrong with this picture. Every year it seems [...]

When I discovered last night that it was time, yet again, to change the clocks, I worked it out in my head. “Ok, it’s Fall. So we have to turn them . . . back? Yeah, I think it’s back. So that means what was once 2:00am is now 1:00am. Oh! This is the good [...]

My parents married young and started their family right away. By the time they were 30, they were the proud parents of four adorable children (the second child was particularly cute). At that time they had a group of friends, all married couples who had decided to wait until after they had turned [...]

Reading to a baby from a very early age is one of the best things you can do for your child. While it may seem strange to read to someone who has no comprehension of what you're saying, it is at the very least time well spent together. Reading also helps form a bond between parent and child, as they develop familiarity with your voice and become comforted by it.

You might think of giving birth as a natural, joyous thing, but modern hospital deliveries can be anything but stress-free if you aren’t careful. The incidence of hospital-related infections has skyrocketed, and more women than ever are being forced into unnecessary caesarian section deliveries. Unfortunately, it’s up to you and your loved ones to look [...]

My three-year-old son is going to be a butterfly for Halloween this year. I admit, when he first told me this was what he wanted, my heart melted a little. It was completely his idea, but you can bet I jumped on it. His costume is now complete with huge red and black wings, and [...]

I have spent nearly nine years teaching my children that patience is a virtue (although sadly, not one of mine) and that there are no stupid questions.
Then, I spent 20 minutes explaining the art of making change to a first grader and all bets were off.
All in. Teaching aids included, but were not limited to: [...]

Could there be a correlation between increased ADD and ADHD diagnosis and the elimination of recess from elementary schools? According to “Recess or Ritalin” by Lisa Farino for MSN Health & Fitness, research is helping to clearly define the importance of children’s play, and their need for physical activity to help them focus during classroom [...]

Pregnancy and giving birth are supposed to be some of the happiest times in your life, so why, when you hold your new bundle of joy in your arms, do you feel so sad? Some doctors attribute this postpartum depression to the rapidly fluctuating levels of hormones in a woman’s body following delivery, while others [...]

In an article entitled “Eco-Housewives - Enlightened Caregivers or Feminist Nightmare?” found in the Fall 2008 issue of Brain, Child magazine, Tracy Sutton interviewed Shannon Hayes, a self-proclaimed Uber-Mom and “enlightened homemaker.” As such, her goal, as she explained to Sutton, “Cuts out the consumerist middleman and asks people to work hard for what benefits [...]

I am an unfit mother.
Oh sure, other mothers might see the merit in hiding it better. But me, I work hard at it.
There are mothers who put time and effort into everything they do. Mothers for whom the perfect packed lunch is the pinnacle of parenting perfection.
They carve fruit into peeled quarters, trim sandwiches [...]

Although hospital delivery had been the standard practice for over one hundred years, more and more parents-to-be are taking advantages of the benefits offered by a home birth.
