Here's a pizza and dessert deal for the weekend.
The American Culinary Federation Apprentices will be selling organic pizza (cooked to order) and organic strawberry shortcakes made from locally sourced ingredients at Saturday?s Festival of Art and Music and Sustainable Living Expo at St. Patrick's County Park.
Pizza toppings include cheese, sausage, pepperoni and a variety of vegetables. Prices are $5 for a 7 inch pizza and $3 for a strawberry shortcake. Proceeds will help benefit the apprenticeship program.
Donald Miller, executive chef at the University of Notre Dame and chairman of the South Bend ACF chapter's apprenticeship program, said the tasty treats are a way for the public to see how the apprenticeship program is making efforts to train future chefs to think and act responsibly when it comes to selecting and preparing food.
The booth will be open from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at the park, 50651 Laurel Road.
