Are you flipping a house?.. Are you trying to bring it into this century with all the modern conveniences, but the kitchen looks like it is stuck in a time warp?.
Kitchen cabinets are one of the first things potential buyers will notice when they enter the house. You could have the best flooring, the newest appliances, and beautiful new windows and window treatments, but if the kitchen cabinets look like they barely survived the war, then you have to do something.
All your hard work, will be for nothing, if the cabinets are not updated in some way, for the potential buyers will only see the faults. As it turns out, you don't have to rip them off the walls and start over, that just costs too much. If the cabinet backs are still in good shape, then consider doing something to the cabinet doors.
You could clean them, prime them and paint them to update their look, or you could reface them with glass. This has a huge impact on the look of the cabinets, and gives them a modern feel.
Take the cabinet doors off, and the hardware so you can lay them down flat, then measure out an opening. Remember to leave at least a 2 inch border to retain strength. Drill 4 pilot holes and then using your jig saw cut out the piece. Glue and nail, decorative hardware on the front around the opening and fill in any gaps with wood filler or caulking. Put in your glass and then 1/4 round in the opening on the back to hold in the glass. Now prime and paint the cabinet door and the moldings the same color, and you have a stunning look for your cabinets.
