Adventure travel with SPOT GPS. You might think it a travelling partner, or a dog named SPOT, or perhaps a new brand of some sort of GPS that you have never heard of. Well, it is none of the above. I hope to explain the what and why of this device (yes it is another one of those devices!) and not on the how to. Sit back and enjoy.
With a SPOT GPS Satellite Tracker in hand, you will be able to share your travel adventure with family and friends by the simple push of a button virtually anywhere in the world. To continue with the what is the device, it obtains your exact GPS location. When you have pushed the button, it will transmit to a satellite your exact location and then that information is in-turn sent out to up to 10 separate email or text accounts of your choosing.
But we are not yet done. The above button would be what is termed the “check OK”. Now let’s get a little fancier. There is next a “help” button which functions just like the first button except it will send out a slightly different message and can go to up to 10 different recipients. This could be used for the situation where perhaps you have gone out 4-wheeling and your machine breaks down and you just need some parts and help to fix the machine up.
Then there is the almighty “911″ button. If things really get bad and you are lost, injured, sick etc., you could push this button and regardless of where in the world you are, appropriate first responders would be summoned to your aid.
There is also an upgrade option that will allow the SPOT Personal tracker to actually transmit automatically every 10 minutes and show your exact track but I will go into that another time. Now back to basics.
OK, I’ve told you about what SPOT is, now let’s look at why you may want SPOT. Whether you are doing world travels to some international travel destination, or recreational travel in a travel trailer or RV for a wilderness family travel experience, SPOT is the easy and affordable way to stay in touch. Think about that family travel experience and just how excited your kids will be to share this with their friends. Once people receive an email from you they will look forward to each and every one they get from you. Email recipients will be able to click on your location coordinates and immediately go to Goggle Maps and actually see where you are.
And yes, just to remind you, it does have the “911″ function but I suspect relatively few people with SPOT will ever have to use it but it is there. For more information just click here. I encourage you to think about getting a SPOT GPS Satellite Tracker.
