Be my guest.

It’s been a while since I last caught a movie.

The last one I watched at the cinema was Mamma Mia. (to the person I watched it with, Im sure this one was memorable :p Following that was The Pursuit of Happyness on dvd. Yes, it was made known to me that the director of that movie was Italian. Well I just watched Casanova with mr venice on his laptop 2 nights ago.

 Guess where Casanova was from.

Somehow so many things around me seem to have links with Italy. Some of which I didnt know came from that amazing place.  Nutella, kinder bueno, ferrero rocher, the fridge in my current kitchen, vespa etc. Dan Brown’s upcoming Angels and Demons has parts filmed in Venice as well. It was interesting that my italian friend hasnt watched The Italian Job. Apparently that movie was filmed in Venice, other parts of Italy and LA. Well, you got to understand that I am currently quite crazy about Italy and Los Angeles. Italy because of its richness in history, culture, sports, ARTS, fashion, food, scenary, language. LA because of DANCE and maybe the junk food. haha. so Im quite eager to watch The Italian Job one more time! And boy, Im looking forward to planning the italia trip! (by the way, this style of writing is known as italics simply because..well it originated from Italy).

I am looking forward to catching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at the cinema. I wonder how it’s like here.

Just a thought that crossed my mind. I guess, part of the reason why I am so amazed by the things I see and hear about now is because once, all these were just images in my mind/books/tv. Things which once used to be theoretical are becoming more realistic now. I still remember reading about ‘The Rise and Fall of Venice’ in the Social studies textbook in Secondary school. And of course, who will forget spotting essay questions from Chapter 4 about ‘The Swiss’. What I knew about Brazil hardly went further from what I see on tv once every 2 years, when they perform their nimble footwork and freak goals from time to time. (actually only the Brazil v England match in World Cup 2002, where ronaldinho scored from his free-kick which was insanely far from the goalpost) (oh by the way, i heard some racist brazilian jokes. which..well can be applied in the erm asian context too hahaha)

Well sorry my point is that, all these things which once seem to be encapsulated in some form of mysterious bubble, seem to have emerged from the bubble which have popped. It is interesting how the readings from my Cross-Cultural Management course mentioned that we learn best about OUR own culture when we are out of it, learning about other cultures. it is so true! TO SINGAPORE FRIENDS OUT THERE..we are really quite sheltered. My friends were shocked when they found out that gums are not sold here. They think Singapore is a bubble where everything is safe/organised/boring. HAHA but I am being a good ambassador of  NUS. I never knew I was so patriotic until I came here to speak about the good things. By the way, I realised that youtube/wikipedia/google map are HIGHLY useful tools to educate one another. I’ll just post the video I used to explain some things about Singapore to friends who are curious about our small yet successful/powerful city/country/state.

we really cannot run away from singlish lah okay.

ANYWAY, the original point that I wanted to make was that. All those things which I once read about, I read and believed that they are true, they are facts. But it was something I could never fully comprehend perhaps because I never experienced them firsthand. But now that Im out of where I used to be, in another place (no I wouldn’t call it realm), in the place that I once read about. It seems so familiar yet surreal. Its like, hey, I never imagined myself to actually experience what I read about/saw in books/tv! So, to transfer this concept to that of the spiritual aspect. We read so much from God’s Word. We know and believe that God’s Word is, of course the truth. However, the idea of being in heaven is something that we cannot fully grasp, YET. But the fact that it is something that we know we CAN look forward to, already IS something in itself. Indeed, all these are but glimpses of heaven. (:

(well, remember that Australia advert a few years back? ‘red and yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue. And I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too. Well yea, Delta Goodrem is remembered more for that song, than the above. I really liked the following song in 2005.)

When I have more time. Maybe I will share abit about two amazing companies: IDEO and Ogilvy & Mather.

Haha. Really exceedingly outstanding.

but for now, i’l just end with this interesting video. The song is secretly quite nice in a way. I think its her voice. Apart from that, its actually quite ..hmm..interesting.
